if you wanna feel better this cold and flu season: make this super immune boosting spiced nog {gluten free with vegan options}

When I start to feel a cold coming on, I instantly change what I eat. I cut out sugar. I add elderberry + echinacea to my morning tea. I use herbs and essential oils to stimulate my immune system, and I make this yummy nog. A spiced warm beverage full of powerful health promoting goodness, I swear by this concoction.You can replace the dairy free milk with a can of full fat coconut milk to make it incredibly creamy… You can take out the honey or maple syrup. You can eliminate the essential oil blend or adjust the spice mixture… It’s up to you!

WHY IT WORKS:

On Guard is dōTERRA’s unique, proprietary blend formulated to support healthy immune function. Wild Orange essential oil, combined with Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary offer a fragrant, natural and effective alternative to synthetic options for immune support. It is also safe to use on counter tops, as a non-toxic way to cleanse surfaces, or to purify the atmosphere by diffusing. On Guard is great at eliminating and controlling pathogens due to the potency of the ingredients.

{side note: I use doTERRA’s oils because of their certified pure therapeutic grade quality. I use them as medicine for myself and my family. I include them in all of my class kits, workshops, and recommend them to my clients. I am a distributor, so if you choose to purchase anything through my links here in this post I get a small commission. I appreciate your support! xo}

Spices have amazingly potent benefits:

: Cinnamon has strong antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial activities. It has been shown to suppress E. coli, staphylococcus, and candida albicans. It is a strong antiseptic.
: Nutmeg: antimicrobial properties. shows activity against strep: especially Streptococcus mutans
: Cardamom: antispasmodic, helps relieve upset tummies.
: Ginger: antiviral and anti inflammatory {the basis of so many diseases}

I buy them organic from whole foods or mountain rose herbs. They are very affordable and wonderful additions to an indie kitchen pantry. Use them often!

* for fancy times: feel free to add a splash of your fave liquor… I like rum, but you could use brandy, bourbon or vodka.

I only had 2% milk in the house(I really do need to be drinking skim milk or dairy free!) and used the microwave(is this a bad idea?) to heat my milk. I used the spices and vanilla and it was just wonderful to drink! I hope I feel better today; it tasted so good, I’ll probably be making another cup tomorrow. 😉

Thanks so much Anne for this awesome recipe. I made it without the oils as these are not available in Germany. I used almond milk and the spices and it was just delicious!!! Will have another cup tonight as I just caught a cold. If it helps as much as it tastes awesome … it will be GRAND! :-)

Thanks so much for sharing!
xox,

Ursula
